Europe has for a very long time focused on the individual self, while the African kontinent has been concerned with the relational, and the interpersonal.
Green Hijab Movement is concerned with the collective WE. While staying in Addis Ababa and hanging out at the Fendica cultural center we came up with the idea of making a collective performance during the opening at the Guramayne Art Center. Are You Ready was performed together with Daniel Alemayehu and Emebet W. Tsadik. It shows a the traditional Eskistadance. Known for its unique emphasis on intense rolling and bouncing off shoulder movement and jilting the chest. E The complex nature of Eskista makes it one of the most highly technical forms of traditional dance. this dance is typically performed to traditional Ethiopian music. We however, used Western techno track by Michael Mass, called Ascension Fear. This caused a change in consciousness from the 3rd dimensional frequency into the something lika a 5th dimensional one. A intense experience with some manifested biological changes.
The goal of this work was to create a ritual, a manifestation of a metabolism that balances energy consumption. Protect, integrate, and help life come to fruition. here, thinking resurrects its original mission: seeking knowledge that takes care of life and leads us into a health drama.
The footage of this performance will end up to be part of a film by the same name. Are You Ready by Frans Jacobi and Gitte Sætre
