New Worlds, 2017
By Katrine Meisfjord og Gitte Sætre
Through the performance 'New Worlds' we wanted to cast light on the thought and practice of The Democratic Union Party (PYD).
Simply sharing what we have learn about this political movement from a distance. A movement said to be the most radical political project of our time. The scripte we performed was borrowed from the book artist Jonas Staal made together with the Democratic Self-Administration of Rojava. We simply read out a dialogue between Salih Muslim from The Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the artist Jonas Staal, this resulted in a performative dissemination of a movement we believe should be payed more attention.
This is a movement said to explore ideas about stateless democracy and autonomous regions where the framework is gender equality, local financial management, secularity and cultural and religious diversity.
Our specially invited guests was green parti politician Arild Hermstad, the adviser in the salmon farming industry in Western Norway Lene Høgset and architect and board member of the International Women's League for Peace and Freedom, Susanne Urban.
