The artist Gitte Sætre (born in Bergen 1975) has worked with artistic utterances in the public space for many years. She worked on the dialogue-based Soups & Stories together with Katrine Meisfjord - a slow community development conversations based on methods of the physicist David Bohm. Sætre stands behind a series of performances called Woman Cleaning. An immediate and quick response to international politics, provocative play with imperialistic behavior, national complacency, and feminine care. Woman Cleaning started in Israel in 2014 and is ongoing. The last stunt in this series was made in the fjord of Hardanger, Norway. Sætre pooped in the fjord- commenting that salmon industry constitutes to the declining health of the oceans. The performative Green Hijab Movement puts its finger on who will suffer from climate change the most. In the hybrid Web-TV series Are You Ready?, a dead tree can observe and report over seven episodes on a YouTube channel. Here, nature itself has been given a voice, its own ability to speak. The tree travels the world. Inspired by Wittgenstein, it philosophizes and speaks to us with a significant amount of humor. She is often collaborating with her partner Frans Jacobi.
